The 4th National HR Conference organized by Human Resource Society Nepal (HRSN) concluded here in Kathmandu on 14 August 2015. Over 120 national and international HR professionals participated in the Conference which had Managing People during Crisis as its theme.
HR professionals from various sectors presented case studies on how they managed their employees in the aftermath of the devastating Earthquake. Similarly, SSP Sanjay B. Rana from Armed Police Force shared his experience on the rescue work carried by his organization and highlighted the fact that preparedness training regularly conducted by APF helped his men carry out search and rescue operations with high success rate. Similarly, Inspector Laxman Basnet who has been highly praised for his successful rescue missions from APF, shared his experiences in the field and pointed out that the encouragement received from top officials who were themselves present in the field was the key motivation.
The keynote speaker Mr. Ajoy Ghosh recalled his experience on managing people during Tsunami disaster while working at Oman and recommended to Nepalese HR fraternity that preparedness policies needs to be developed at country level, before organizations could plan for it.
The Conference released the report of a research conducted by HRSN on “Psychological impact of earthquake and perceived employer support”. The report showed that 3.5% of the respondents of the research had high distress level and that 19.3% had higher than threshold level of anxiety.
HRSN is a registered not-for-profit professional platform of HR professionals in Nepal established with the primary objective of empowering HR. The Society conducts National HR Conference and other HR related programs.
